Subjects Taught
Academically/Intellectually Gifted, Computer, Language Arts, Math

My Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education
(K-6 certification) was completed at Pfeiffer University, class of 1995.

Through two years of evening classes provided by RCSS and High Point University, I acquired an Academically/Intellectually Gifted certification to be added to my licensure.

I am the Academically/Intellectually Gifted & Academic Nurturing Program specialist as well as the Computer Enrichment teacher at Farmer Elementary School. I have been at Farmer since 2004 and couldn't ask for a better job. I enjoy challenging the AIG/Nurturing students in reading and math to help them reach their full potential. Computer Enrichment enables me to work with each student in the school. Watching them grow and learn from year to year, is a blessing as well.

I taught in the Stanly County School system for four years, 1st grade one year and kindergarten three years. For the following five years, I stayed at home with our son and returned to my teaching profession when he entered first grade.

For the 2009-2010 school year, I was named Distinguished Educator by my peers at Farmer.

I believe that teaching is my calling and a privilege. I strive to make a difference in each student's life.

My husband and I moved from West Virginia to North Carolina in 1993 when we got married.  We have one son born in 1997.
